such a number like P08 indicates support pack in which particular issue described in the Note is solved.

E.g. in case of note "1717897 - P08:CheckMan:Various quality problems solved without effect" this issue about Checkman is ficed within the note and the note is delivered in Support Package 08 for SAP NetWeaver BW 7.30.
