Hi Jürgen,
what's the application you use with TREX? I don't think the indexing of 2.000.000 documents leads into 3 TB disk space . However it could be dependent on the type of documents supposed to be indexed.
The backup of the index is usually need about of 40-50% disk space required for the index .
