I need to merge 2 dimensions from 2 different universes. Basically, I have created a combined report from 2 different universes. Universe 1 contains a derived table that contains all the necessary columns required for the report. I have already merged the common dimensions in both universes and created the report. However, one of the columns/dimensions ("BM/PE Name") from Universe 1 is showing numeric values instead of string values when I moved the report to Test. I have been told that the numeric value is actually linked to the "Resource/Employee ID" in Universe 2. Thus, now I need to merge "BM/PE Name" from Universe 1 with "Resource ID" from Universe 2 to get the string values for that column. Both the dimensions are strings in Webi. However, when I click on them to merge, there is no merge option. For you info, I have however used the "BM/PE Name" object from Universe 1 in a variable to create the combined column for "BM/PE Name" in the combined report. I have attached the formula for the variable below. I created the variable because "BM/PE Name" in universe 2 is defined as a variable, so I could not merge it. with "BM/PE Name" from Universe 1. The formula for the variable is almost the same. Only difference is that I have added the last line in the attachment for the variable from universe 1. But, I don't think this should affect the merging process. Anyways, why is Webi not letting me merge those 2 objects? I have given both objects the same name in the Universe. Thanks.
